The job

The job

The brief

A fourteen-minute short about a woman who walks home the long way and finds a car waiting. Fen Lane brought the script and the lead. We brought everything else.

The shoot

Five nights on one farm track in October. The light comes from the car, a small unit bounced off a caravan, and the last of the sky. We scheduled the widest shots for the first twenty minutes of each night and worked inwards as it got dark.

The cut

Cut over three weeks with the director in the room for the last one. The grade took two days and mostly involved leaving things alone. Delivered as a festival DCP with a ninety-second trailer.
